Year Five in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the fifth level of the game. It has thirty-four chapters, seventeen Achievements, and seventeen Side Quests.

Plot

In addition to the previous classes, the Main Character takes Defence Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic classes. They befriend Jae Kim, Badeea Ali, Liz Tuttle, and Diego Caplan.

As is tradition, the school year begins with the Start-of-Term Feast in the Great Hall. If the Main Character completed the Become a Prefect Achievement, they will be congratulated on becoming a Prefect by Penny Haywood. She introduces the Main Character to her little sister Beatrice Haywood who is excited to meet you. The Main Character has their first Defence Against the Dark Arts class with Professor Patricia Rakepick.

The Main Character is introduced to Percy Weasley, younger brother of Bill and Charlie Weasley. Bill, Merula Snyde, and the Main Character were handpicked by Professor Rakepick to serve as her assistants in finding and breaking the Cursed Vaults. Later, while meeting Ben Copper in the Courtyard, the Main Character is attacked by the Dark Wizard.

While discussing past events with Bill and Merula at the Three Broomsticks, Penny shows up to tell the Main Character that Beatrice is missing. Merula finds Beatrice in the Grand Staircase trapped in one of the portraits. Madam Rakepick says this is most likely caused by another curse. The Main Character serves detention in the Kitchens where they meet Pitts, the House Elf in charge. The Main Character meets and befriends Jae Kim. The Main Character asks Professor Flitwick for help rescuing Beatrice, and he sends them to Sir Nick. Sir Nick introduces the Main Character to Badeea Ali. The Main Character helped Penny brew a potion to try and rescue Beatrice.

Thanks to talking to the House Ghosts of Hogwarts in an attempt at finding where the Marauder’s Map is, the Main Character learned that Jacob had a friend called Duncan Ashe who died in pursuit of the Cursed Vaults and is a ghost at Hogwarts. The Main Character met him the Prefect's Bathroom where they discovered Duncan is full of rage. Duncan eventually tells the Main Character to seek out Mundungus Fletcher in Knockturn Alley.

Professor Rakepick puts the Main Character through a series of tests to prepare them to visit Knockturn Alley. Bill teaches the Main Character Stupefy, then Madam Rakepick showed the Main Character how to use Floo Powder. The Main Character and a friend use Floo Powder to travel to Diagon Alley and from there to Knockturn Alley. They were unable to find Mundungus. They were attacked by some dark witches and wizards but were saved by Madam Rakepick. She tells the Main Character and their friend that she has Mundungus tied up at the Three Broomsticks.
