The Vault of Ice is a secret room located at the end of the Vanished Stairs, hidden by a wall on the fifth floor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is one of the five fabled Cursed Vaults said to have housed treasures and prophecies from before the time of the four founders of the school.
Description[]
If tampered with, this vault unleashes cursed ice that would encase all in its path. It was found by the Main Character and their friends in their second year.
History[]
During the Main Character's second year at Hogwarts, they and two friends ventured into the Vault of Ice. The magical door was covered in ice and attacked anyone who touched it or tried to use Incendio on it. After attempting to access it with Rowan Khanna, Rowan was knocked unconscious by a Freezing Spell that was placed on the door to the vault as protection. Rowan was sent into a brief coma, but recovered quickly in the Hospital Wing.
Later in the year, the Main Character, Bill Weasley, and a chosen friend ventured into the Vault of Ice to see what treasures lay inside. After the use of the Fire-Making Spell, Incendio, to melt the ice that covered the entrance door, the Main Character fought and defeated the Ice Knight after it emerged from the vault. This allowed all three to safely enter the vault.
When they opened the vault, they found Jacob's wand and his notebook inside a column within the middle of the vault. The Main Character then suddenly hears a warning from Jacob, spoken through the vaults, which the others could not hear, telling them not to let "her" find the other four vaults. Bewildered, they revealed what they heard to the others and proceeded to seal the vault, stopping the spread of the cursed ice.
Trivia[]
- According to Bill, the notebook only contained strange drawings and scribblings.
- If a witch or wizard are encased in the cursed ice, their body temperature drops dramatically and their strength is instantly drained. The only way to destroy cursed ice is by using Incendio or the Knockback Jinx (Flipendo).
