Tulip Karasu was a witch who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1984 and was sorted into Ravenclaw.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Tulip spent her whole life living with strict rules because her parents worked for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in the British Ministry of Magic. As a result, Tulip developed a rebellious spirit and a desire to break the rules. She kept this hidden from everyone around her, especially her parents. At one point in her youth, she was admitted to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after she came down with a case of dragon pox. She has a pet toad named Dennis.
Tulip's first time performing magic was when she countered her parents' Imperturbable Charm. She'd never liked it when her parents hid something from her. She would try to eavesdrop, but the Imperturbable Charm stopped her. One time she kept focusing on the sounds and suddenly she could hear everything they were talking about. She discovered her parents were complaining about the Ministry letting former Death Eaters back into the fold because they were rich and influential. Ever since, Tulip has had trouble trusting the Ministry and most sorts of authority.
Hogwarts Years (1984-1991)[]
Year One[]
Tulip and Merula Snyde became friends immediately upon arriving at Hogwarts. Tulip was attracted to Merula's independence. In Merula, Tulip felt like she could finally be free with a best friend to break rules with. When they heard about the Cursed Vaults, they wanted to be the first time find them to prove how powerful they were.
In their search for the Cursed Vaults, Tulip and Merula stumbled upon Jacob's secret research room. However, Tulip wished glory only for herself and she betrayed Merula. She hid the clues she had discovered and never shared them with Merula. After Merula found out they had a fight. Because they couldn't make any progress, they didn't want anyone else to access Jacob's room. They made a lock with two keys. Tulip took one and Merula took the other.
Tulip came to regret her behavior towards her best friend. She believed Merula had to the right to be angry at her and she became afraid to make new friends because she didn't know if she would betray them too.
Year Three[]
Tulip begins taking Muggle Studies as one of her electives.
The Main Character meets Tulip when they discover Tulip's name on the lock on Jacob's room. They and a friend meet Tulip in the Transfiguration Classroom to try to gain information from her. Tulip sends the Main Character on a quest to retrieve the key to Jacob's secret hideaway in order to prove their trustworthiness.
Year Four[]
Tulip falls victim to the Sleepwalking curse.
Year Five[]
Tulip pulled a prank by releasing all of Hogwarts's Nifflers, which the Main Character had to stop with the Freezing Charm.
During this year, Tulip started to get doubts about whether she had been sorted into the correct House. She was confronted by the Main Character as she tried to break into the Headmaster's Office. She eventually let the Main Character help her with her problem. She visited all the House common rooms and spoke with students from every House, but nothing seemed to assuage her doubts. She was then put through trials where she had to win an unfair game of dodgeball, protect some Leaping Toadstools from Crup puppies, and evade a Graphorn. All this didn't help her, so Professor Dumbledore eventually let her talk to the Sorting Hat, who told her that she had chosen Ravenclaw, not the Hat itself. This put her mind at ease and she gifted the Main Character a Colour changing coat as thanks.

Beyond Hogwarts[]
Soon after graduating from Hogwarts, she became an inventor of prank products.
Physical Appearance[]
Tulip had straight red hair that fell just below her shoulders, brown eyes, and pale skin. She was often seen wearing a white button-up shirt with a blue and white tie beneath a grey sweater. She also wore a gold necklace, which resembled a Dungbomb, and carried a booklet that had Zonko's Joke Shop's Z logo as the cover in the pocket of her skirt.
Personality[]
Tulip had a penchant for troublemaking and rule-breaking which earned her the reputation as a rebel among her peers at Hogwarts. Although she was known to team-up with prospective figures, her trust was difficult to earn. During her time at Hogwarts, she spent long period studying alone in the Transfiguration classroom. Tulip believed rules were made to be broken and that Hogwarts had far too many rules. She tells the Main Character that she's always wanted to be told off in front of the entire school at a Welcoming Feast. Tulip was able to recognize and appreciate people for their intelligence alone, despite potentially having other problematic qualities, as also seen in the case of Merula. Tulip and Tonks frequently competed to see who was the better troublemaker. While she could be a bit chaotic at times, she clearly cared about her friends and was always willing to do the right thing. Tulip felt embarrassed about sharing intimate details about her emotions and past.
