Murphy McNully is a wizard who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1984 and was sorted into the same House as the Main Character.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

When Murphy was seven years old, his mother taught him the Blackboard Writing Spell. Murphy subscribed to Which Broomstick? ever since he could read.

Hogwarts Years (1984-1990)[]

Murphy was a Quidditch fan who would commentate on Hogwarts Qudditch friendlies. He is the only friend the Main Character cannot play Gobstones. Murphy uses a wheelchair.

Beyond Hogwarts[]

Upon graduating from Hogwarts, Murphy became a professional Quidditch commentator. His knowledge of the sport, combined with his charming personality and eloquent speech, made him a favorite among Quidditch fans. He announced matches for Intramural Quidditch.

Personality[]

Murphy's areas of expertise were sport commentary and Quidditch strategy. His dream job was a Quidditch Expert or Quidditch Commentator. He identified someone as a friend by calling them by their last name. He asked them to return the favor. He was incredibly chatty. It made him spectacular at commentating on Quidditch games, but it also made him difficult to converse with as he wouldn't let the other person get a word in. Murphy assigned everything a percentage chance of happening or of being true. He didn't even stand behind them, often changing the number upon hearing someone's bewilderment.

Abilities and Skills[]

  • Charms: Murphy was taught the Blackboard Writing Spell by his mother, and was proficient with the casting of this enchantment himself.
  • Quidditch Knowledge: Murphy was knowledgeable about Quidditch and Quidditch strategies. He was an entertaining Quidditch commentator, and was also an avid user of statistics at a time when the sport only had the basics.
  • Wizard's Chess: Murphy was quite skilled at Wizard's Chess, being able to guide his team to the final round of the Walter Aragon Wizard Chess Competition.
