Professor Minerva McGonagall is a witch who was the professor of Transfiguration, Head of Gryffindor House, and Deputy Headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Early Life[]
McGonagall demonstrated that she would be a highly gifted and powerful witch from her infancy. She performed various mischievous magic as an infant, much sooner than the average magical child. She would summon toys from high shelves, cause her father's bagpipes to play from another room, and could even get the family cat to do her bidding. When she arrived at Hogwarts, she was sorted into Gryffindor.
She was eventually appointed Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. One of McGonagall’s duties as Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts is to manage the process of preparing and delivering Hogwarts acceptance letters every year. The process starts when she transcribes the names of magical children from the Book of Admittance.
