Main Character, also known as You, is the playable main protagonist of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery developed by Jam City, whose name, gender, appearance, and house is chosen by the player.
This student was a witch or wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry between 1984 and 1991. Their brother Jacob's expulsion from Hogwarts for endangering fellow students in his quest to find the Cursed Vaults had an impact on his younger sibling's first year at Hogwarts when many other students whispered about them for their elder sibling's breaking of school rules which had disgraced Hogwarts.
The incident was well-covered in the Daily Prophet, as was Jacob's running away from home, which had a profound effect on the younger sibling.
Throughout their seven years at Hogwarts, they successfully broke into every one of the five Cursed Vaults, showing immense bravery, intelligence, dedication, and resourcefulness. They maintained friendships with lots of schoolmates and went through exciting adventures together, rescuing Jacob from the Buried Vault and breaking the ancient statue curse in the Sunken Vault.
Physical Appearance[]
Your character's appearance is determined by the player of the game. In fact, the first thing you do, as the player, is choose your character's gender and appearance.
The female customization slides (excluding lips).
You first have the choice to change your face shape, as well as skin tone. After that, you can customize the shape of your characters nose. Then, you may change the shape and color of their eyes. The available colors for your characters eyes are black, brown, light brown, green, and blue. After that, you may change your lip shape and color. Lastly, you have the ability to change the color of your hair, and your hair style. For female avatars, your hair style choices are a short bob with bangs, long hair with bangs, long cornrows, and a tied up short ponytail; alternatively hijabs are also available.
Male hairstyles and colors.
However, if you select a male avatar, you have the choice between different hairstyles. These hairstyles are, short generic hair, and short hair with two short bangs on both the left and the right side of the head. There are however, three hairstyles that need to be unlocked, by earning experience in the game. One of which (unlocked at Lv. 3) is short, with bangs. Another (unlocked at Lv. 3) is medium-length. Lastly, there is a simple buzzcut (unlocked at Lv. 7).
As with other characters, the Main Character, despite being 12-13 at the start of the game, nonetheless has the appearance of someone in their mid-late teens, with certain clothing and hairstyle choices further impacting this.
Personality[]
The Main Character's personality changes, depending on your choices. No matter what choices you make, the Main Character shows determination to find their brother. They also show bravery to face whatever is found in the Cursed Vaults.
Abilities and Skills[]
- Charms: The Main Character was skilled with charm-work. They were capable of producing a non-corporeal Patronus, which is a highly impressive magical achievement given the difficulty of casting the charm. The Main Character earned an O.W.L. in Charms and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Potions: The Main Character was skilled with brewing potions. They earned an "Outstanding" on their O.W.L. in Potions and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Transfiguration: The Main Character was highly accomplished in Transfiguration. They earned an O.W.L. in Transfiguration and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Herbology: The Main Character was knowledgeable about magical plants. They earned an O.W.L. in Herbology and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Magizoology: The Main Character earned an O.W.L. in Care of Magical Creatures and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Defence Against the Dark Arts: The Main Character earned an O.W.L. in Defence Against the Dark Arts and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- History of Magic: The Main Character was interested and knowledgeable in the field of magical history. They earned an O.W.L. in History of Magic and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Divination: The Main Character earned an O.W.L. in Divination and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Astronomy: The Main Character earned an O.W.L. in Astronomy and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Muggle Studies: The Main Character earned an O.W.L. in Muggle Studies and continued the subject at N.E.W.T.-level.
- Duelling: The Main Character was an accomplished duellist.
- Flying: The Main Character was a very capable flyer on a broomstick.
- Apparition: The Main Character was able to Apparate at will.
- Magical Aptitude: The Main Character had a great amount of magical skill.
- Nonverbal and Wandless Magic: The Main Character was proficient in casting nonverbal magic and wandless magic.
- Healing Magic: The Main Character became an assistant to Madam Pomfrey and studied healing magic on their own. Madam Pomfrey described the Main Character as a natural Healer and an exceptional assistant.
- Wizard's Chess: The Main Character developed some talent in Wizard's Chess. They were even able to impress Professor McGonagall with their ability.
- Quidditch Knowledge: The Main Character demonstrated their knowledge about Quidditch, despite not playing until their second year.
- Leadership Skills: The Main Character displayed the characteristics of a good leader. They effectively led the Circle of Khanna to defeat 'R.'
- Teaching Skills: The Main Character displayed the characteristics of a good teacher. They often tutored struggling students.
- Dark Arts: The Main Character had a high level of skill in Dark Magic.
- Legilimency: The Main Character was skilled at reading and navigating the minds of others.
- Animagus: The Main Character had mastered the incredibly complex branch of Transfiguration allowing them to become an Animagus.
