The Kelpie is a shapeshifting water demon native to Great Britain and Ireland. They can be bought in the Magical Creatures Reserve in the Lake environment for 50 Red Notebooks, 40 Blue Notebooks, and 40 Gold Notebooks. The Magizoologist level you need to unlock this creature is Level 5.

A kelpie was kept in the Hippogriff Clubhouse at least in the 1980's. Another kelpie resided in the Magical Creatures Reserve after their previous owner donated it to Hogwarts hoping it would find a happier home there during the Main Character's third year.
If the Main Character adopts a kelpie, they will bond and feed it. Eventually this will lead to reaching a Max Level with the creature.
