Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a video game developed by Jam City, originally released for mobile devices on 25 April 2018. It is the first game to be released under Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Portkey Games label.
Description[]
In Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the player creates their own character and takes on the role of a Hogwarts student. The character experiences seven years at Hogwarts from 1984 to 1991 in which they take part in classes and extra activities such as the Duelling Club. Upon graduation, the character starts their career in the wizarding world. The game's story was written by several writers, including Allen Warner and Matt London. David Nakayama is the lead artist.

Year One[]
Year One of the game is made up of ten chapters. The player creates their character, gets sorted into the House, participates in Charms, Potions, and Flying Classes, and meets friends Rowan Khanna, Ben Copper, and Penny Haywood. This is also when the player meets their character's enemy Merula Snyde. The player is introduced to Gobstones, Meal With a Friend, and Duelling. As the player tries to find out what happened to their older brother, Jacob, the existence of the Cursed Vaults is revealed. At the end of the school year, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore promises to discuss the Cursed Vaults and Jacob another time, as well as granting 100 points.
Year Two[]
Year Two of the game is made up of eleven chapters. Adding on to the previous classes, the player participates in Transfiguration Class. The player gets to join their House Quidditch team. The player's character is introduced to Bill Weasley, Chiara Lobosca, and Dobby. Ben goes missing at the beginning of the school year. He is eventually found to be trapped within Cursed Ice and is rescued by Professor Minerva McGonagall and Professor Severus Snape. The player, with the help of Rowan, continues searching for clues about the Vanished Stairs and the Cursed Vaults. They successfully locate the Vault of Ice, but Rowan is injured. After further training and preparation, the player and two friends enter the Vault of Ice, where they find a notebook and broken wand. A voice tells the player to never let "her" find the other vaults. At the end of the term, Dumbledore tells the player that they have something important to talk to them about at the end of next year.
Year Three[]
Year Three of the game is made up of eleven chapters. Adding on to the previous classes, the player participates in Herbology Class. The player's character also gets to experience Hogsmeade. The player's character is introduced to Nymphadora Tonks, Tulip Karasu, Barnaby Lee, and Talbott Winger. Hogwarts suffers from several Boggart attacks not long after the start of term, which is concluded to be caused by another Cursed Vault. The player, with the help of friends, locates and ventures into the Vault of Fear. With the use of Jacob's wand found in the last vault, they find a map of the Forbidden Forest and a broken arrow. By the end of term, Dumbledore tells the player he has been looking for the world's finest Curse-Breaker, Patricia Rakepick, and that he invited her to join them next school year. He also warns the player to not break any more rules.
Year Four[]
Year Four of the game is made up of seventeen chapters. Adding on to the previous classes, the player participates in Care of Magical Creatures Class. The player's character befriends Andre Egwu and Charlie Weasley. At the start of term, Patricia Rakepick is introduced. Hogwarts students become affected by a Sleepwalking Curse that causes students to sleepwalk to the Forbidden Forest. The player deduces that this is a likely location for another vault. The broken arrow found in the previous vault is believed to have belonged to the Centaurs of the Forbidden Forest. After further research and investigating, the player befriends the Centaur Torvus, who formerly owned the arrow.
Year Five[]
Year Five of the game is made up of thirty-four chapters. Adding on to the previous classes, the player participates in Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic classes. The player's character befriends Jae Kim, Badeea Ali, Liz Tuttle, and Diego Caplan.
Year Six[]
Year Six of the game is made up of forty-six chapters. Adding on to the previous classes, the player participates in Divination and Astronomy Classes. The player's character befriends Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Cedric Diggory, Alanza Alves, and Beatrice Haywood.
Year Seven[]
Year Seven of the game is made up of sixty chapters. Adding on to the previous classes, the player participates in Muggle Studies. The player's character gets the opportunity to explore some wizarding careers and has the chance to be chosen by Professor Dumbledore to be Head Boy/Girl. Towards the end of the term the player's character can do their N.E.W.T. examination.
Beyond Hogwarts[]
Volume 1[]
Volume 1 of the game is made up of twenty-two chapters. The player's character is now living in a flat, having graduated from Hogwarts. They work for a secret division of the Ministry of Magic called the Rare, Obscure, and Confounding Case Division, or ROCC for short. The player's character also meets with their friends.
